Set your bike up for YOU!

Mountain bikes are surprisingly personal bits of kit. In my role as a mountain bike guide/trip organiser, I rarely get customers who want to rent bikes. Why? Because they’ve set their own bikes up to suit them “just so”, and would much rather be on their own bike than an unknown hire bike.

It’s important to feel comfortable on your bike, leaving you to concentrate on your riding, or on the skill you are trying to learn, and there is so much you can do to perfect your own bike set up. Have you considered the position of the controls, the position of the seat, or the handlebars? What about those suspension forks? Or the rear shock if you have one?

I recently got some new brakes, gears, seat-post and suspension, and this gave me a great opportunity to make a video to help you with your bike set-up. Watch it here:

Let me know if you have any questions!

If you want to look at cock-pit set up more closely you can check out this video too. The intention was to help relieve arm pain/arm pump by examining a few different options with your set-up. You’ll see from the comments on YouTube how helpful some viewers have found it, which is really great to see!
